These are what I like to call my “beginner pots.”  They are very good for orchids with damaged root systems or small root systems that need tighter living quarters to thrive.  Do keep in mind that these pots do not have holes along the sides of the pot, only the bottom.

Most commonly, these are the types of pots store bought orchids will be in.  However, these are of higher quality and do have the raised center for improved drainage.  Preventing water pooling is a must since orchid roots rot easily in stagnant water.

This is another fantastic orchid pot set from Elit Orchid.  Unlike the other 4.5 inch pots listed in my shop, these do have holes all along the sides, as well as the bottom.  This allows for maximum air flow and light transmission to the root system.

I have listed both the 4.5 inch and 5.5 inch version, since there is a big difference when it comes to repotting in either of these sizes and to make it easier for you to navigate.

Orchiata bark thus far for me is by far the best.  I love this stuff.  Most importantly, the orchids I have potted up with it are healthy and secure in this media.  This media easily slides between the root crevices without suffocating them, making it easy to get stability without overcrowding.

If you only have a small collection of orchids, this bag should work well for you.  I cannot more highly recommend the Orchiata brand.

These are great pots.  If you have quite a collection of orchids, having an assortment bunch of orchid pots on hand is extremely helpful as you never know what you’ll need until you inspect those roots!

I absolutely love this pot.  A friend of mine had me adopt her Phalaenopsis orchid and it was particularly large.  It just wouldn’t comfortably rest in any size pot so I went ahead and ordered this one.  I’ve been extremely happy and most importantly, the orchid is healthy and happy.

Net pots in recent months have become a good friend of mine.  I used to strictly use traditional orchid pots when I was re-homing my orchids, but I have found the air flow, security and manageability of these net pots to be absolutely wonderful for orchids!  The plastic material is durable but flexible.  The “bang for your buck” is incredible.

They offer these in both 5 and 6 inch versions.  I have been using both and find them to be a great size.

These are the net pots I’ve been ordering here lately.  I’ve really grown to love them.  The plastic material is durable, yet flexible and the “bang for your buck” is fantastic.  I’ve linked to both the 5 and 6 inch versions.  Air flow and light transmission are great through the netted sides.  Very little opportunity for water to pool and rot the roots of your favorite plant.  Room to expand and grow!

These are really neat.  Because they are adjustable from 8 to 12 inches in diameter, they are incredibly versatile to accommodate other houseplants in the future should you choose to do so.  The pot will need to be round though. If you have a smaller sized orchid pot, this may not work for you unless you are able to secure it by other means.

It is made of bamboo, which means this product is durable and will stand up to the test of time.

If you are one of our modern-styled friends, here’s one potentially more to your liking. What do I love about this choice?  They offer a 100% money back guarantee if you are not completely satisfied with these stands.  You don’t have to purchase the 2 of them together (the tall and short stand) but can opt for just one by itself.  With a brass plated finish on the 7″ pots and black coated iron for the legs, they are made durably which is always important if you want to get your money’s worth out of something.  That “green stuff” we spend surely doesn’t grow on trees, does it? Could we find a way to make that happen though? : )

Another bonus to this choice is since the pots that come with it are 7″ in diameter, you can set your plastic orchid pot within those decorative brass outter pots and they will still have room to breathe. That’s critical for an orchid’s health. The taller plant stand is 26 inches in height, while the shorter stand is 18 inches high.  Last but not least, another thing to consider about this stand is the security of the pots within the frame.  If you have pets or young kids, plants are easily knocked over.  With this set, you will notice how there are some supports holding the pot in place.
